What documents do I need to rent a car?
A valid, original driving license should be presented by the vehicle renter and/or the driver when picking up the vehicle. A driving experience for a certain time period is not necessary. Customers who do not own a Sri Lankan driver’s license should present a valid government issued ID card or passport, along with an international driver’s permit.
Advance payment has to be made to our bank account in order to reserve the vehicle at the point of reserving the vehicle. The rest of the payment for the month (or less than a month if the vehicle is being rented for a shorter time) and the 100% refundable deposit must be paid while receiving the vehicle. Cash/Card payments (Visa/Master) accepted. cheques are not accepted without prior approval from the accounts dept
Delivery and Pick- up of vehicles is done by our team across the island, 24 hours, any day. While deliveries and pick-ups within the city limits are done free of charge, a fee will be charged for other locations, based on the distance. This fee can be paid at the point of receiving or returning the vehicle.
Do Foreigners can rent the self –Drive vehicles with international Driving Permit in Sri Lanka?
Yes!!!! We Asia Fleet Lanka (PVT) Ltd rents the vehicles as well will arrange to get International Driving Permit endorsement with Automobile Association Ceylon Approval.
All foreign IDP Holders who wish to drive in Sri Lanka must produce their IDP at the AAC Head office and on completion of an Application form they will be issue a Recognition Permit and which must be carried along with the IDP at All times. AFL will arrange an IDP approval with concern authorities for minimal cost prior to visit to Sri Lanka.

Rs.10, 000.00 Sri Lanka Local Currency all charges inclusive (AAC Fee and AFL Service, Process charges)
Period of Process.
Once all document submitted it will take maximum 07 working days. and upon vehicle delivery at the locations AFL representative will collect the original IDP for verifications.

Important Points!!
The international Driving permit (IDP) is recognized worldwide as a valuable document identifying motorists as legally –Licensed Drivers
The IDP may prevent any convenience when renting a car or driving in a foreign country where English is not commonly spoken. In such situations , drivers may find themselves handicapped by language barriers, The IDP contains translations’ of term used in various international languages that would enable drivers to communicate with car rental companies. The IDP is also a useful form of identification as it contains a photograph of the driver.
It’s highly recommended that the following people apply for IDP. This includes people who are going to a country for reason other than touring purposes and staying for a period longer than 03 months and hold social visit passes for more than 03 months. However they should first contact the respective embassies of consulate offices or their country of destination to obtain more information of driving license requirement.
